Are you hesitant to use makeup to cover any facial redness because they can aggravate your skin? You don’t have to be worried once you know how to pick the right product for your skin. But first, here are a few basics.
There are multiple reasons why your skin looks red. It could be rosacea, eczema, or simply dry skin. Red bumps could develop as a result of acne or a pileup of dead skin and clumpy oil. The dead skin and sebum plug also traps bacteria and can cause inflammation, redness, pain, and swelling. Though it is the body’s natural defense mechanism to form protrusions in the face to fight the harmful bacteria, it can cause excessive damage to the skin surface.1
Facial skin affected by inflammation is very irritable and sensitive, so treat or cover it only with very mild skin-friendly products. As the skin’s barrier is already damaged, facial lotions must be perfume-free and not too greasy, to prevent the pores from being clogged.

Mineral makeup goes beyond covering up flaws; it is makeup that is good for the skin. It is just like the regular foundation, with all the same ingredients as a regular foundation like mica, titanium oxide, zinc oxide and iron oxides. However, it contains a light sunblock and anti-inflammatory properties. Look for one that does not include parabens, preservatives, mineral oil, dyes or fragrance, making it a healthy choice for the skin.
Blend the mineral makeup into the blemished areas that need concealing and finish your look by spraying a mild hydration mist. The result will be beautiful, natural-looking skin.
While mineral makeup originally started out as a loose powder, you can now buy beautiful eyeshadows, blushers, and bronzers as mineral makeup. When your facial skin is inflamed, your skin will look dull at best, and it won’t matter how much makeup you use. Sometimes, makeup can just highlight that you are trying to hide bad skin, particularly if you plaster it on thickly. Concealers are skin-colored creams specifically designed to hide spots or minor blemishes or a blushed face. Using a concealer that contains a moisturizer is not a good idea for blemished skin, as this will highlight the bumps and pits on your face. Choose the right color for a concealer that is a shade lighter than your skin since a concealer that is too dark will draw only more attention to a blemish.
Remember that you will never be able to cover a spot completely, so don’t worry if you can still see it a bit. Whatever you do, don’t be tempted to keep piling on concealer. You will just make the spot more obvious.2
3. Always Use Non-Abrasive Makeup Tools
To cover blemishes, first run a concealer brush back and forth over a concealer stick or concealer cream, and then dip in loose mineral powder. Use the brush to dab the concealer and powder onto the blemish, and it will stay covered. Avoid using a hard skin brush, washcloth or other abrasive objects on your facial skin. Also, avoid using brushes with fine, tapered and firm bristles which are used for depositing dense color than for blending it. Typically, the powder brush is the ideal one to be used for blending in the foundation and to eliminate makeup lines and cover blemishes.

- Honey: Boosting anti-inflammatory properties, honey can give relief to irritated skin.4 Apply organic honey liberally on your face and let it rest for 20-30 minutes before washing it off.
